Electronic Entertainment Expo 2013 Conference Summary
  • Show opened with Metal Gear Solid V, showing Snake sneak his way through Afghanistan's deserts on horseback. Great demonstration of the open-world gameplay and the incorporation of stealth elements, Kojima makes a token appearance and briefly talks about smut grass. More in the coming MGSV thread!
  • Yusuf Mehdi introduces a new Xbox 360 model to show their commitment to ongoing support of the console, available right now.
  • Taking a page out of Sony's playbook, from July 1st, XBL Gold members will receive two free games a month starting with Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3.
  • Victor Kislyi introduces World of Tanks: 360 edition. Take control of the world's most powerful tanks in team-based 15-on-15 matches, free to play as long as you're paying for Gold.
  • Press Play reveals Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, an upcoming 3D platformer.
  • Dark Souls 2 trailer that doesn't do the series justice at all. What's up with the music?
  • Cevat Yerli from Crytek talks about Ryse: Son of Rome. Started off strong and was visually stunning, until they showed combat being stripped down to one QTE after the next. Described as an exclusive "at launch" - possible ports to other platforms in future?
  • Killer Instinct reboot! Xbox One exclusive, though not being developed by Rare.
  • Ted Price from Insomniac unveils Sunset Overdrive, stylistic shooter that looks like a lot of fun.
  • Forza Motorsport 5 introduced alongside a real McLaren P1. Dan Greenawalt talks about the game and the "drivatar" feature that learns from your driving and participates in races for you, so you can play the game without actually playing the game. In the cloud!
  • Minecraft: XBox One Edition coming, really putting the system's 8GB RAM to good use.
  • Sam Lake talks Quantum Break, and shows a small trailer using the game's engine with characters investigating an explosion frozen in time.
  • SWERY65 working on D4, a stylistic crime game and XBONE exclusive. Very sad to see MS get exclusivity on this.
  • Microsoft Studios' Dave McCartney shows off Project Spark, an action RPG where you have direct control over the world's creation using Smart Glass to sculpt terrain. The idea is to provide a "blank canvas" for you to create your own basic games with - trying not to get too excited about this one as the creation aspect looked far too good to be true, and I don't want to get my hopes up about my future rock waifu.
  • Marc Whitten shows off more Smart Glass features using Ryse and Killer Instinct - the latter having some of the most scripted and horribly embarrassing smack-talk ever. Partnership with Twitch to stream games as you're playing them, and other social features similar to those found in Sony's "Share" button.
  • New game from the Panzer Dragoon developers called Crimson Dragon is coming, though no further details other than a brief teaser video.
  • Dead Rising 3 announced as an XBONE exclusive. Open-world and significantly darker than the previous games - fight your way though the zombie apocalypse or call in an airstrike to bomb the hell out of everything using Smart Glass. Seriously.
  • John Mamias from CD Projekt Red introduces The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the final installment in the franchise that will be set across multiple nations.
  • After an embarrassing start, in-game footage of Battlefield 4 is shown featuring a chaotic battle on a sinking carrier. "Second Assault" map expansion available for XBONE users ahead of other platforms.
  • Swords and Sorcery EP developers tease Below, with little additional information provided aside from the game's URL.
  • A trailer for an unnamed game developed by Black Tusk Studios shows stealth/action gameplay with a guy climbing down a skyscraper. Syphon Filter?
  • Bonnie Ross from 343 announces Halo. No number or subtitle, just "Halo". Why would a guy in Spartan armor need robes?
  • Wrapping things up, the console will release in November 2013 and retail for $499.
  • One last game - Vice Zampella, CEO of Respawn, reveals Titanfall. Pretty much COD with giant mechs, this looks like it could be fun online. Microsoft exclusive, so expect it on PC, 360 and ONE.
