The article is a few days old, but the story is very interesting so I thought I'd relay it here and give the section a boost. DARPA has released two videos to showcase its development in advanced prosthetic research with their Reliable Neural-Interface Technology (RE-NET) program - the first video shows the use of an artificial arm that's manipulated by thought to pick up a cup, bounce a ball and catch a cloth, while the second video illustrates the use of the flat interface nerve electrode (FINE) which stimulates nerve endings to reproduce the sense of touch to the amputee.
