Bard is physical ranged damage dealer in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. It's unlocked with lvl30 Archer and lvl15 Pugilist.

SKILLS

Heavy Shot: lvl1 Delivers an attack with a potency of 150 Additional Effect: 20% chance next Straight Shot will deal critical damage (lvl8 Trait)

Straight Shot: lvl2 Delivers an attack with a potency of 140. Additional Effect: Increases critical hit rate by 10%, duration: 20 seconds

Raging Strikes: lvl4 Increases damage dealt by 20%, duration: 20 seconds. cooldown: 180 seconds (lvl 28 trait reduces to 120 seconds)

Venomous Bite: lvl6 Delivers an attack with a potency of 100 Additional Effect: Venom, Potency: 35, duration 18 seconds (9 seconds below lvl24), Additional Effect: When Venom damage is critical, there is a 50% chance Bloodletter recast time will reset (lvl48 trait)

Misery's End: lvl8 Delivers an attack with a potency of 190. Can only be executed when target's HP is below 20%. cooldown: 12 seconds

Shadow Bind: lvl10 Bnids target, duration: 10 seconds. Cancels auto-attack upon execution. Target unbound if damage taken. cooldown 40 seconds.

Bloodletter: lvl12 Delivers an attack with a potency of 150. cooldown 12 seconds

Repelling Shot: lvl15 Delivers an attack with a potency of 80 Additional Effect: 10-yalm backstep. Cannot be executed when bound. cooldown 30 seconds

Quick Nock: lvl18. Delivers an attack with a potency of 110 to all enemies in a cone before you.

Swiftsong: lvl22 Increases the movement speed of all nearby party member as long as they remain within hearing distance. Effects ends upon reuse or when enimty is generated. Cannot be used in battle or with other songs.

Hawk's Eye: lvl26 Increases DEX by 15% and guarantees that all attacks land. duration: 20 seconds, cooldown: 90 seconds

Windbite: Deals wind damage with a potency of 60, Additional Effect: Wind damage over time, Potency: 45, duration: 18 seconds. Additional Effect: When damage over time is critical, there's is 50% chance Bloodletter recast time will reset. (lvl48 trait)

Mage's Ballad: lvl30 Refreshes MP of all nearby party members while lowering own damage dealt by 20%. MP is drained while singing. Refresh effect is lost if party members move out of the hearing distance and ends upon reuse. Cannot be used with other songs.

Quelling Strikes: lvl34. Reduces enmity generated by each attack, duration: 15 seconds, cooldown 120 seconds.

Foe Requiem: lvl35 REduces all enemy magical resistance by 10%. MP is drained while singing. Effect is lost if targets move out of hearing distance, and ends upon reuse. Cannot be used with other songs.

Barrage: Increases the number of strikes per auto-attack to 2 ( increases to 3 with lvl44 trait)

Army's Paeon: lvl40 Refreshes TP of all nearby members while lowering own damage dealt by 20%. MP is draines while singing. Refresh effect is lost if party members move out of hearing distance, and ends upon reuse. Cannot be used with other songs

Blunt Arrow: lvl42 Delivers an attack with a potency of 50. Additional Effect: SIlence, duration: 1 second

Rain of Death: lvl45 Delivers an attack with a potency of 100 to target and enemies near it. Additional Effect: Lowers target's evasion by 10%, duration: 20 seconds, Additional Effect: 15% chance next Quick NOck will cost no TP, duration: 10 seconds.

Flaming Arrow: Sets the ground ablaze, delivering damage with a potency of 35 to enemies that enter the flames, duration: 30 seconds

Wide Volley: lvl50 Delivers an attack with a potency of 110 to target and all enemies near it. Addtitional Effect: 15% chance next Rain of Death will cost no TP, duration 10 seconds.

Battle Voice: lvl50 Doubles the effectiveness of all songs. Does not work with Swiftsong. duration: 30 seconds.



CROSS CLASS SKILLS

Bard can use skills from Lancer and Pugilist.

Feint: lvl2 Lancer. totally useless for bard. Don't even think about using this.

Featherfoot: lvl 4 Pugilist. Somewhat useful when solo, but in raids/primals, just leave it.

Keen Flurry: lvl6 Lancer. Again, somewhat useful when soloing, but drop it when raiding.

Second Wind: lvl8 Pugilist. Selfheals never hurt, I personally keep this as cross class skill all the time.

Haymaker: lvl10 Pugilist. Useless, just forget it.

Internal Release: lvl12 Pugilist. You absolutely want this skill. 10% more critical hit rate.

Invigorate lvl22 Lancer Another skill you want, most boss fights last quite a while, and 400 TP regen every 3 minutes is really great.

lvl34 Lancer. Again, you want this skill. 10% more damage is always nice. Never say no for more damage.

Mantra: lvl42 Pugilist Good skill if you don't have monk in your party. Personally I keep this as cross class.



SKILL ROTATION

My personal skill rotation is the following Straight Shot ---> Bloodletter --> Venomous Bite --> Wind Bite --> Heavy Shot
Reapply DoTs when necessary, if Straight Short crit procs use it, Bloodletter whenever it's off CD. Misery's End whenever available under 20% HP. I use off GCD (general cooldown) skills, Repelling Shot and Blunt Arrow, for a little bit of extra DPS. Be careful with Blunt Arrow in some cases, some battles require silencing certain attacks. Be warned: every bard repels to death at some point. Either it's to deadly fire in coils, or landslide in titan, or any other AoE.

STATS

Bards primary stat is DEX. Most important secondary stats are Determination and Critical Hit Rate. Mixing it with a bit of Accuracy, to reach accuracy caps for coils. Attribute points all in DEX. In gear prefer DET/CRIT, with some acc.

Determination increases your overall damage, who wouldn't want to make better damage. Critical Hit Rate, name is self explaining, the creater number on this you have, the higher is the percent your attacks crit. Avoid Skill Speed as long as you can!

RAID UTILITIES:

Bard is wanted in end game for it's few raiding utilities.

Songs:

Foe Requiem gives more damage to summoner and black mage in your party, also your healers if they are dpsing too. Has a really good use on dps check parts on fights, i.e add phases.

Mages ballad is your main raid utility, long fights are hard on healers Mana even with good mana management. Mages Ballad combined with battle voice is really nice for your healers.

Armys Paeon, kinda has it's uses, but since ninjas get Goad and physical DPS can cross class Invigorate, armys paeon has lost it's use.

Other Raid utilities:

Blunt arrow, needed in first coil especially. Silencing certain attacks with off GCD skill.

Shadow Bind, bard is the most used kiter in Second Coil of Bahamut Turn 2. Binding your target is the most important part of kiting.


HOW TO BE A BARD:

General idea is to keep your dots up all the time. Most of your damage comes from them, not as much as summoners, but you really wanna keep them up. Bard really loses in potencys compared to other dps' out there, but bards can move freely. No cast times, quite fast attack speed even with BiS gear sets. Due to bards raiding utilities, every single raid group wants one.
